The iPhone 6s launch day didn't bring long lines at Sprint stores, and the carrier touts that as a good thing.
New Apple product launches typically result in a customer frenzy with long lines at Apple Stores and other locations that sell the latest iGadget on launch day. The latest Apple products to go on sale are now the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, which officially hit commercial availability on Friday, Sept. 25.
The iPhone 6s duo drew large crowds as expected, but not all stores selling the two devices on launch day were bombarded with customers eager to wait in line to be among the first to grab the latest smartphone.
Sprint stores were apparently free of those annoying queues, which usually indicate high demand. The carrier's marketing team nonetheless wants to spin this into a good thing and tout that interested customers can head over to a Sprint store if they want a new iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus without having to wait in line.
"Sprint delivers the hottest phone AND rescues you from lines," boasts a company tweet, accompanied by an image of two men proudly showcasing their newest iPhone purchase on the iPhone 6s launch day.
Sprint obviously means that while Apple Store locations have long lines, its stores don't face the same problem. This stands for all carriers actually, as none of them has such long lines as the Apple Store. Nevertheless, touting that people aren't flocking to Sprint for an iPhone 6s may not be the best idea, especially when customers complain about the lack of availability for certain models.
One iPhone fan, for instance, saw Sprint's new Twitter post as an opportunity to complain that all Baltimore Field Stores lack the Rose Gold color option of the iPhone 6s with 128GB of storage space.
In response, Sprint blamed the "overwhelming demand" for the latest iPhones.
"We cannot guarantee that the stores inventories will be in stock," Sprint replied to the commenter.
Sprint's response obviously didn't satisfy the customer, as a subsequent comment from the same user reveals that none of the Sprint stores in the Maryland, VA or DC areas had any supplies of the 64GB or the 128GB configurations, presumably referring to the Rose Gold color option. No additional details are available to verify whether Sprint had enough stock for the Rose Gold color option nationwide, as this avatar proved to be the most popular among iPhone 6s early buyers.
Either way, it's still worth pointing out that Sprint has one of the best deals currently available for the iPhone 6s, allowing interested customers to lease it for just $1 per month if they trade in an iPhone 6 and sign up with the iPhone Forever plan.
