Arcade cabinets are cool. League of Legends is cool. Put the two together, as one fan recently did, and you have one seriously badass setup.
Redditor AnthonyMJohnson took his love of building arcade cabinets and passion for League of Legends and channeled it into the seriously impressive work of art below.
"Inspired in part by the slew of Arcade skins that Riot has been releasing, plus my newest hobby of building custom arcade cabinets, a light bulb went off in my head: Why not build a fully functioning (But probably not optimal) League of Legends arcade cabinet?" he wrote in the League of Legends subreddit.
So he did — and even Riot is blown away by the results. An employee from the developer took to the post to comment "This is absolutely amazing!"
That does seem to be the general consensus. Johnson said there are a few aspects of the cabinet he would like to improve – such as adjusting the cabinet's height and adding better speakers – but overall, he is happy with the outcome. And it didn't even take that long for him to make.
"This was my first time putting together this particular cabinet kit and it took about a full night (6 hours or so) and that's probably because I was doing it alone," he wrote. "Finding the graphics and crafting them in photoshop to look how I wanted was also a couple of nights with a few hours each night, and that was primarily because the company I had printing them kept sending them back requiring adjustments."
For players who spend hours each day on Summoner's Rift, a cabinet like this would not only be beautiful to look at, but useful as well. Just like office workers might opt for a standing desk, some hardcore LoL players might want to consider a similar set-up. That's what Johnson says he does when playing PC games.
While it might take some getting used to (playing games while standing up is a strange feeling), it would be healthier in the long run — especially if you are playing LoL frequently. Maybe Johnson should consider building these for other players? Could be a nice little business on the side.
