A death of a character be it in a movie, TV show, book or a video game is an inevitable occurrence.
But a death of a prized video game character is sending Riot Games fans in a riot especially since players are required to pay in order to unlock champions in League of Legends for continuous gameplay use.
A report from Kotaku states that the champion Gangplank died in act three of the Bilgewater storyline in the hands of his arch nemesis Miss Fortune. The character has since been removed by Riot Games from the roster of champions.
According to the League of Legends community board, "Champion death is unprecedented in League of Legends, and we do not take it lightly. We encourage all Gangplank fans to remain calm for a few days until we can fully assess the situation. At this time, we are not addressing refund requests for him or his skins but please know that over the next several days we'll do our best to make things right for everyone."
League of Legends fans are aware that Riot has been developing the catastrophic events that center around the nautical-themed champions along with the game's various pirates all coming from the city of Bilgewater.
New content for the game include: new maps, character skins and game modes that allow players to acquire monsters as mercenaries. That is why fans were caught off guard when Gangplank died especially since new skins and abilities were updated for the champion.
It's important to note that Riot did state that it would do its best to make things right. The best thing Gangplank fans can do now is to wait and see what Riot Games will actually do. Who knows Gangplank might resurrect and avenge himself against Miss Fortune.
