Roblox Comes to Xbox One In December

Roblox is a online world/game aimed at kids who love LEGO and other building bricks.

Not only can kids Minecraft their worlds into being, they can also engage in some rudimentary scripting to create their own minigames and then share them online for others to enjoy. They've been doing exactly that for almost a decade, building up a catalog of some 15 million user-created games.

Roblox has been available for years for PC, Mac, iOS and Android, but today, it was announced that a new platform is coming gamers' way: Xbox One.

Tentatively scheduled for a Dec. 3 launch, Xbox is treating Roblox as an app instead of a dedicated game. At launch, the Roblox app will provide access to 20 of the service's most popular games, with many more to come in 2016. Roblox isn't yet announcing which games will be included in that first 20.

Both the app and its games will be free, though an Xbox Live Gold membership will be required to play. In-game items will be available for purchase but aren't required. As an added incentive for Xbox One users, Roblox will have exclusive characters that aren't available on any other platform.
