Attack on Titan (the manga, the anime, the two live-action movies) is pretty darn popular, so popular that the manga and anime have inspired a number of spin-offs. One of the most notable is Attack on Titan: Junior High, in which characters from the show are aged down and thrown in a junior high school where Titans are the bullies.
It's as weird as it sounds (you can check out a trailer for it here), but the upcoming anime adaptation of the manga series is going to be even weirder thanks to the addition of live-action segments.
Yes, you read that correctly. The show will feature two live-action segments starring the anime's Japanese voice cast, which just so happens to be the same voice cast for the original Attack on Titan anime.
Via Crunchyroll, the first segment is called "Advancing! Treasure Hunt" and will star Yūki Kaji, Marina Inoue, Yui Ishikawa and Tomohisa Hashizume, the voices of Eren Jaeger, Armin Artleit, Mikasa Ackerman and Bertholdt Hoover. The voice actors will take on the role of junior high students who must search for treasure by overcoming various challenges.
Now, hold on, because it gets better. The second segment is called "Sasha Tries It By Herself" and features Yū Kobayashi, the voice of Sasha Braus, well, doing challenges by herself. On the sidelines cheering her on will be Titan-kun, a man sporting a terrifying Colossal Titan mask and wearing a school uniform.
Bizarre doesn't begin to describe it, but perhaps this isn't all that odd as far as Japanese game shows go. You can check out a preview of the insanity to come below.
Attack on Titan: Junior High airs in Japan on Oct. 3, 2015.
