Hall of Famer and New York Yankees icon Yogi Berra died of natural causes at the age of 90 in his New Jersey home on Tuesday (September 22).
A three-time American League MVP and 15-time All-Star, Berra is the only player in Major League Baseball history to have won 10 World Series championships, before being inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1972.
However, to a younger generation of baseball fans—and to a large degree, a healthy slice of American culture—Berra was known as the lovable personality with a knack for delivering classic quotes; sayings that became known as "Yogi-isms."
The sayings grew so popular that Berra was quoted by U.S. presidents and they paved the way for the beloved Yankee to even star in an Aflac commercial and recite some of the quirky quotes.
Here, in memory of the legendary Berra, Tech Times has compiled his most classic one-liners.
"It ain't over 'til it's over."
"Baseball is 90 percent mental. The other half is physical."
"When you come to a fork in the road, take it."
"A nickel ain't worth a dime anymore."
"You can't think and hit at the same time."
[On selecting a restaurant]: "Nobody goes there anymore. It's too crowded."
"Slump? I ain't in no slump. I just ain't hitting."
"We made too many wrong mistakes."
"The future ain't what it used to be."
