Microsoft is giving Xbox One Preview members the ability to opt in or out of testing the New Xbox One Experience update — which is set to dramatically change the console's user interface as well as speed up performance. Microsoft however warns preview members that due to the nature of the update, a number of issues may occur that could affect games, apps and even the Xbox One itself.
Now we have a more detailed rundown of all the problems New Xbox One Experience users may encounter. Microsoft says the following games may fail to open when using the new interface: Guacamelee: STCE, Unmechanical, Elite: Dangerous, Pool Nation FX, D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die, Xbox Fitness, Skylanders, Destiny: The Taken King and game compilation discs like Borderlands: The Handsome Collection or Saints Row IV.
A number of other titles may suffer from other various issues. Those playing the recently released Forza 6 under the update may find that their screen turns blue or purple when entering a race, and those playing Elder Scrolls Online may be unable to connect to the game server.
The following apps may fail to launch: ABC News, VUDU, SlingTV, WWE, Showtime Anytime, Every Street United, Overdog, BlinkBox, ReddX and TWC TV.
The following apps may open, but will not play videos: SyFy, USA Now, BravoNow, TED and MLB.
Hardware can also be affected under the update. Games may be stuck in the queue, consoles may freeze, party chat may experience problems, voice commands will be unusable in the browser and the My Games and app section of the interface may fail to load properly. Users can also expect issues with accessories like the Xbox One media remote, racing wheels and problems using the Xbox One's live TV functions.
For many of these issues, Microsoft reccommends hard-resetting the Xbox One. To do this, hold the power button for 10 seconds until the Xbox One powers off. You can get a full rundown of all the problems users may experience by clicking here or by visiting the Xbox One preview dashboard.
Those are a lot of issues, but it's for that reason Microsoft is testing out the update before it rolls out to all users later this year. In addition to changing the UI and improving performance, the New Xbox One Experience will include more functionality with Windows 10 and backwards compatibility for a number of Xbox 360 games.
