The Star Wars merchandise blitz is officially underway, with new toys based on characters and vehicles from the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens flooding store shelves.
But Hasbro isn't only working on toys from the new film. Various Star Wars characters from television and video games will also be getting the plastic treatment. Such is the case with Star Wars Battlefront.
The toy manufacturer is looking to EA's multiplayer shooter for new figures. Up first is the Black Series 6" Imperial Shock Trooper, inspired by the look of some of the Stormtroopers that will appear in the game. According to the figure's product description, Imperial Shock Troopers are "adept with heavy weaponry" and "serve as elite frontline forces and even as bodyguards for the Emperor himself. This 6-inch-scale Imperial Shock Trooper figure includes 2 accessories and is inspired by the character from the Star Wars Battlefront game!"
The figure is currently available for pre-order over at Order 66 Toys. The only downside is that this figure isn't coming until March, more than three months after the release of the game.
Not that Star Wars toys won't still be in demand by then. With Star Wars Battlefront releasing in Nov. and Star Wars: The Force Awakens coming in Dec., fans will be experiencing a Star Wars high they haven't been able to receive in decades. No doubt that will translate into big merchandise sales, and when the figures look this cool, it's easy to see why.
Other non-movie inspired characters coming to the Black Series include Kanan from Star Wars Rebels and Darth Revan from the Knights of the Old Republic video game series.
Star Wars Battlefront releases on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on Nov. 17. A beta for the game will begin in early October.
