Beats Electronics unveils lightweight, sweat-resistant Powerbeats2 Wireless earphones

Beats Electronics LLC launches its first wireless earphones, Powerbeats2 Wireless, which is lightweight and sweat/water resistant.

On Thursday, June 12, the company revealed the earphones which have been co-created by NBA star LeBron James. The durable earphones are designed for athletes of all fitness levels and offers freedom from wires, which the company claims will take training to the next level. The wireless earphones allow athletes to work out anywhere and the redesigned earhooks fit better and provides a comfortable music listening experience during workouts.

"To me this product represents the intersection of sports and music," says Beats president Luke Wood. "This is Beats, superior technology and design with premium sound quality. But most importantly, the Powerbeats2 Wireless are designed to serve as a tool for athletes at all fitness levels, whether you're LeBron James in training or just out for a morning run."

The company says that the Powerbeats2 Wireless is inspired by LeBron James. The earphones have IPX4 sweat- and water-resistance levels. The earphones have no-slip grip which makes it perfect for athletes to easily adjust volume, change tracks or make hands-free calls. Beats Electronics is also offering a hard shell case to safely store the Powerbeats2 Wireless earphones.

The earphones have wireless Bluetooth connectivity that offers athletes the capability to connect to a Bluetooth-enabled paired device from up to 30 feet. The Powerbeats2 Wireless comes with a rechargeable battery that plays six hours of music. A 15-minute quick charge of the battery will deliver around an hour's continuous playback.

A wireless earphone may attract many customers and draw them into buying the latest Beats product. With the company ensuring that the wireless aspect of the gadget does not compromise on the quality of the sound, the earphones are likely to go down well with consumers.

Even though the Powerbeats2 Wireless will provide solid sound quality to the users, the company says that the earphones will still let users hear just enough outside noise, which will keep them alert when walking or running on streets.

The Powerbeats2 Wireless will sport a price tag of $199.95 and will be available in three color options: red, black and white. The lightweight earphones will weigh only 24 grams (around 0.84 ounce).

The latest earphones will be available directly from Beats Electronics' website soon and interested customers can sign up to get a notification when the product is available for sale. Select retailers will also start selling the earphones from June 2014 itself. The Powerbeats2 Wireless earphones will also be available from authorized Beats retailers July 2014 onwards.
