Xperia fans interested in the new Sony Xperia Z5 Compact can get free headphones when pre-ordering the handset, but only in select markets.
Sony recently introduced its latest Xperia Z5 lineup, featuring the new Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Premium and Xperia Z5 Compact. The smartphones are not ready to ship just yet, but they have nonetheless gone up for pre-order in certain areas.
While the Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Premium are certainly impressive and have raised plenty of interest, the Xperia Z5 Compact shines in its own niche.
Ever since it launched the Xperia Z1 Compact as the smaller version of then-flagship Xperia Z1, Sony raised the bar in terms of what "mini" smartphones can bring to the table. Not many smartphones out there sport a relatively small form factor without compromising specs — and that's where the Xperia Z5 Compact comes in.
The Sony Xperia Z5 Compact is the smallest smartphone in the company's latest flagship lineup, but it nevertheless continues Sony's tradition of packing powerful specs in a compact package. The handset comes with a 4.6-inch IPS LCD display with an HD resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, oleophobic coating and scratch-resistant glass for extra durability. Under the hood, the Xperia Z5 Compact packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor coupled with 2 GB of RAM for a fast and responsive performance.
Other specs include 32 GB of internal storage capacity, microSD support for additional storage, a 23-megapixel rear camera, a 5.1-megapixel front shooter with full HD (10800p) video recording capabilities, a 2,700 mAh battery and IP68 certification for water- and dust-resistance.
It now seems that a neat new promotion is in place for a few countries in Northern Europe, bundling free headphones along with Xperia Z5 Compact pre-orders. More specifically, interested customers in Norway, Denmark, Finland and Sweden will receive a free pair of Sony MDR-10RC foldable headphones if they pre-order the Xperia Z5 Compact before October 4, 2015.
The headphones normally cost roughly €105 (about $118) and boast cushions, sculpted air vents, 40mm neodymium drivers, an inline remote and microphone, as well as their own travel pouch.
It remains unclear whether Sony plans to expand this promotion to other countries as well, or offer a similar bundle with the Xperia Z5 or Xperia Z5 Premium. For now, only the Xperia Z5 Compact pre-orders in Norway, Finland, Denmark and Sweden seem to come with the free headphones.
