In an effort to keep the fanatics hooked on the so-called Action Real Time Strategy game Dota 2, Valve has announced that the hotly awaited Dota 2 Reborn update is now available for download across the globe.
Valve revealed the news on the release of the Reborn patch through a post it shared on Twitter.
"We are rolling out the Reborn update over the next couple of hours," read the Twitter post.
Interestingly, Dota 2 Reborn now runs exclusively on the new Source 2 engine. The earlier version of the game ran on the original Source engine. The update to the new engine makes the Dota 2 Reborn the first game to fully use the Source 2 engine.
Source is the 3D video game engine that powered the games developed by Valve in the past years, which include the following: Counter-Strike: Global Offensive; Half-Life 2 and its episodes; Counter-Strike: Source; Portal plus its sequel; Team Fortress 2; Alien Swarm; and Left 4 Dead and its sequel.
The developer has also confirmed that matchmaking will no longer be available in the game's older client.
"Matchmaking is now only available in Reborn," Valve stated.
Players will expect several changes to the interface as well as game modes of Dota 2 Reborn.
Additionally, reports point out that players should expect to see more updates for the game's new version in the next days since the developer wants to impress its players with the stability of the game.
Tech Times reported in June that Valve was preparing to overhaul Dota 2. A few of the changes identified were the user interface, a "Guided Bot" mode, and the ability to create custom games. Also, the report revealed that it would boast a new game engine. Valve then unwrapped the open beta for Dota 2 Reborn.
"Everything in the dashboard has been completely redesigned utilizing a new UI framework, and the engine that powers the game has been fully replaced," said the developer.
In August, Valve also announced a 20-player mode for Dota 2. All custom games will have the option to play with up to 24 players.
