'GTA Online' Update Adds Freemode Events To The Game

Rockstar Games announced Thursday that Freemode events are coming to Grand Theft Auto Online. Freemode events will allow players to more easily access games and challenges in Freemode without having to deal with menus, lobbies or load times.

A Freemode event can begin at any time while players are in Freemode. Players can even customize which ones they'd like to see occur. Two events that you might play in the game are King of the Castle, where you fight to protect your territory from anyone that tries to dethrone you, and Hunt the Beast, where a volunteer becomes a Teen Wolf-like character who has to try to not get caught by those hunting him down. Freemode events can also include stunt challenges, such as popping the longest wheelie, getting the most air in a vehicle and doing the most near misses in a vehicle without crashing.

This new GTA Online update also includes two new Adversary Modes. These include the Hunting Pack, where you and your team have to deliver a vehicle that will explode if it drops below a certain speed while you're fending off adversaries, and Cross the Line, where you and all of your team members have to make it into your heavily-armed opponent's territory.

The Rockstar Editor will also be coming to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One with this new update. It will feature some recently announced new tools, including an ambient audio and sound effects library, integration with Snapmatic and updates to Director Mode.

The Freemode Events Update will be available to download Sept. 15.
