Daniel Craig revealed that not only is he reprising his role in the upcoming James Bond movie, he has also participated in the film's scriptwriting. The actor even had the opportunity to choose the film's director and has now become a co-producer as indicated in the film's official poster.
That said, Craig is now the first Bond actor to be involved in the film's production. The new movie, which is titled Spectre, marks his fourth time portraying James Bond on the big screen.
Craig admitted that doing the movie had been tough since it will be a follow up to the highly successful Skyfall (2012).
"I think everyone was just daunted," said Craig. "Like, it's the biggest British movie of all time. Where do we go from there? It could have been an albatross around everyone's necks. It turned out not to be but there was a massive amount of pressure."
Spectre is directed by Sam Mendes, who was personally chosen by Craig.
"I wanted desperately for Sam Mendes to do this movie, but at the time he had other commitments. I said he's got to do it. We started something with him on the last movie, the beginning of a relationship with a director I haven't had in a long time."
Craig started out on his role as a secret agent in the 2006 film Casino Royale. From that time, he already knew how he wanted to leave his mark by putting some of his own jokes to the film's script.
"When I first started, they offered me a blank page, really, and what that means is I was allowed to add my own bits. I wanted there to be gags, and I wanted there to be funny bits, but I wanted them to come from a fresh place."
The second James Bond movie he starred in is Quantum of Solace (2008).
Spectre also stars Christoph Waltz, Ralph Fiennes, Lea Seydoux, Monica Bellucci, Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris and a whole lot more.
The film's synopsis states "A cryptic message from Bond's past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organization. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind SPECTRE."
