Stephen Amell, the man who plays Oliver Queen in the Arrow, wowed many when he performed for the crowd at WWE's SummerSlam. However, not everyone is happy, and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin is one of them.
He's in the minority here, but that doesn't mean he's not making some sense. He made his opinion very clear on The Steve Austin Show, a podcast he hosts on a regular basis.
"I just don't like the celebrities coming in there, the squared circle, and being able to compete at any level with the guys in the business [pro wrestling]," Austin said. "You've got to protect some integrity of the business. I don't care what day and age; what year it is."
Austin also claimed that seeing Amell come off the ropes with that crossbody onto two WWE guys and taking them out is something he finds hard to believe. We have to agree there because Amell body is not huge, so how did he manage to take down two WWE guys just like that?
This wouldn't be the first time Austin has voice concerns about actors and other celebrities entering the ring. He also just got caught in a verbal argument with Arnold Schwarzenegger, whose Terminator character will feature in the next WWE video game.
Overall, we have to say that the WWE needs to find better ways to keep the sport interesting rather than continuously bringing celebrities into the ring. They bring nothing of substance and only a small following, many of which will never return to watch another match.
Return the sport to the golden days, the attitude era, the days where little boys and girls along with adults can name almost every wrestler who steps into the ring.
To make matters worse, wrestlers are no longer allowed to bleed in the ring. That was one of the many spectacles that have been thrown to the dogs. Bleeding always brought with it a sense of authenticity, but these days, the whole thing just feels fake.
