LG's new tablet is solid, if unexceptional.
The G Pad 2 10.1, which debuted this week at IFA in Berlin didn't go out of its way to set itself apart from a sea of Android tablets. It doesn't transform, project or have any of the myriad other bells and whistles trotted out by the competition, but the 10.1-inch slate does have some pretty solid specs.
For starters, there's the 10.1-inch WUXGA (1920 by 1200) display, which looks sharp playing back high-def content. Inside is a 2.26 GHz quad-core processor, 2 GB of RAM and a decent 16 GB of storage (expandable via microSD), along with a sizable 7400 mAh battery.
That should keep the tablet running "for hours on end," according to the company's modestly vague claims. The build is pretty decent, if a little chunky, featuring a bronze-colored back, which also sports a middling 5 megapixel camera that juts out from the upper right-hand corner.
The tablet comes in both LTE and Wi-Fi varieties. It should start somewhere in the neighborhood of €400 ($446 USD) here in Europe.
