There are a lot of new storylines, characters and costumes coming to The CW's new season of Arrow this fall, but one we didn't see coming is the strange new costume sported by David Ramsey as Arrow sidekick John Diggle.
Although Arrow himself (Stephen Amell) gets a slick new costume change for this season, Diggle's costume seems a little off and uninspired.
Anyone familiar with the show and the character would say that he'd never actually wear an outfit that could be considered a costume — but something must have changed his mind.
The new costume seems to channel simplicity with a black leather jacket, but the choice of helmet makes Diggle look a little like X-Men's Magneto.
Entertainment Weekly unveiled the new look, thanks to a new photo released by The CW.
"I don't think Diggle looks at it as a costume per se," said Arrow executive producer Marc Guggenheim at this year's San Diego Comic-Con. "Oliver [Stephen Amell], in the last season, gave him advice in terms of concealing his identity, and so Diggle approaches it from a very practical standpoint. He followed Oliver's advice and he's got a means of concealing his identity, but I think Diggle would probably react to anyone calling it a costume."
There is no word on whether Diggle will start the season with the new look or if it's something he acquires at some point during the season. It's hard, however, to imagine how cheesy he might look standing next to the stylings of the Green Arrow.
The CW is on a roll unveiling costumes for its hit superhero shows. Not only is Amell getting a new look on Arrow, but The Flash's Grant Gustin also gets a new super suit for this television season.
Arrow returns to The CW on October 7.
