There was a lot of excitement this past weekend after the release of the first official trailer for the upcoming Deadpool movie, starring Ryan Reynolds.
Now, new high resolution photos from that film are available, and they feature Reynolds in all his Deadpool-suited glory, as well as showing him as his alter ego, Wade Wilson. These photos also show Wilson's love interest, played by Morena Baccarin, as well as a host of other characters from the movie, including Angel Dust and Ajax.
We've already been warned that the Deadpool movie is not for the faint of heart, thanks to its R rating.
He gets pretty f***** up," said Reynolds in an interview with CinemaBlend. "I mean, I get shot in places that you don't usually see people get shot in movies. He does thankfully have a rapid healing factor, and a very long digestive track."
What's most revealing about these new photos from the movie, though, has nothing to do with Deadpool but everything to do with the character seen above, Teenage Negasonic Warhead: she sports a yellow costume that should look familiar to fans of the older X-Men comic books.
This yellow suit was commonly worn by the X-Men in the comic books, and this appearance of it signals the costume's future appearance in the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse film.
X-Men: Apocalypse director Bryan Singer recently teased the return of the comic book costume in the films, and this photo is probably the first visual evidence of what we'll see in the new X-Men movie.
"In X-Men: First Class, which I produced and wrote the story for, we hark back to the original colors of the original costumes from the 1963 comics," Singer said to Yahoo. "I will say that in X-Men: Apocalypse, there is a chance — without giving anything away — that you may get closer to seeing what I think, Mr. X-Men News, you are interested in seeing. I know it's something that I've been interested in, I just always wanted to do it the right way."
So, who will be wearing those yellow costumes in X-Men: Apocalypse? We already know several characters planned on returning to the movie franchise in their younger versions, including Jean Grey (Sophie Turner), Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee), Cyclops (Tye Sheridan) and Storm (Alexandra Shipp).
Deadpool hits theaters on Feb. 12, 2016, just a few months before the release of X-Men: Apocalypse on May 27, 2016.
