New 'Witcher 3' Patch Will Fix In-Game Romance Options

Many gamers who have delved into the romance options for RPG video game The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt found themselves somewhat disappointed with the resulting in-game consequences and dialogue concerning those options.

In The Witcher 3, the romance choice seems a simple one: does Geralt choose Yennefer or Triss? Players choosing Triss over Yennefer complained that they felt let down, finding that Triss seems to get the short end of the stick as a romantic partner in the game.

For most fans, Yennefer always seemed like the obvious choice, and the game even sort of quietly nudges players in that direction — which was one beef that Team Triss had with the in-game romance options, stating that it often really didn't even feel like a choice.

Now, though, The Witcher 3 developer CD Projekt Red has listened to the complaints and said it plans on releasing a patch that fixes the Triss romance, adding in better dialogue and making that romance work better for those players who make that choice.

The developer became aware of player complaints about the Triss romance back in July, even going so far as to comment in a thread on the official game forums.

"We will be addressing this situation by adding/changing some dialogue stuff in the future — more info on this will come later so pardon my scarce input for the time being," wrote CD Projekt Red's Marcin Momot. "This should help with the immersion."

The company confirms that a patch is definitely on its way to add additional dialogue to the game for the Triss romance, as well as adding "extra conversational options" into gameplay.

Of course, there's no official date for when this new content will arrive, but it does show that CD Projekt Red continues to value player feedback and take it into consideration, even acting upon it. Other game developers could learn a thing or two from the company about how to work with fans to come up with solutions to valid game complaints.
