With Forza's announcements at the IFA 2015 and now Gran Turismo's teaser feature, September is shaping up to be the big month for car racing videogames.
Bugatti's supercars, especially the Veyron, have already been featured on several game titles, including Gran Turismo 6 and thus, it does not come as a surprise that the company is actively promoting itself, just like other car manufacturers, through videogames. In relation to this, Bugatti is enlisting another car to accompany the Veyron that is already in the Vision Gran Turismo Challenge. The company's new concept supercar will be featured alongside a long list of cars - from the Alpine Vision Gran Turismo to the Volvo S60 T-5 Sport '03.
Since the second week of August 2015, Bugatti has been teasing its Twitter followers with the release of its new concept car. However, last Sept. 2, it was revealed and was aptly named as the "Vision Gran Turismo." Bugatti describes it as the "perfect symbiosis of engineering and aesthetics."
The released images of the Vision Gran Turismo show that it holds a close resemblance to the body shape of the Veyron and still features some key parts, such as the horseshoe grill that are native to Bugatti. However, with sportier and more aggressive look to it - trimmed down headlights, a bigger rear spoiler and a racing-style steering wheel.
Furthermore, it sports a two-tone blue finish reminiscent of Bugatti's Type 57 G Tank, which won the 1937 Le Mans 24-hr automobile endurance race. More hints of the Le Mans race comes in form of the fin that stretches from the back of the roof down to the spoiler.
"Also referencing the rivetted seam running down the tail of the classic Type 57 Atlantic," noted Antony Ingram, EVO reporter. Ingram also discussed that Bugatti was careful with its references to older models and that it avoided a retro-style car. This is based on the explanation given by Bugatti's Head of Exterior Design Creative Development, Sasha Selipanov.
"Bugatti is admired and loved by countless people throughout the world. We highly appreciate this enthusiasm," said Wolfgang Dürheimer, President of Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S. "This is a project for our fans."
The Bugatti Gran Turismo is scheduled to appear at the Frankfurt motor show on Sept. 17.
