Brock Lesnar has been on an absolute tear since rejoining WWE more than three years ago.
That carnage could reach new levels October 3, when the Beast will reportedly take on the Big Show as the headliner of a Madison Square Garden, New York City house show that will air as a special on the WWE Network.
WWE is known for pulling out all the stops in New York City, considering it was the home of the inaugural WrestleMania upwards of 30 years ago and boasts some of the most diehard wrestling fans across the nation. While the casual pro-wrestling fan might be wondering why a Big Show vs. Brock Lesnar match is so appealing, consider this — the last time the WWE Superstars met, they destroyed the ring and nearly each other.
It was June 2003 when the two dominating forces clashed in the squared circle. After Lesnar was able to shake loose from a chokeslam attempt, Show caught Brock later and nearly gained a pinfall. Frustrated, Show attempted to finish Lesnar off with another chokeslam later in the match, this one while standing on the ring apron from outside the ring. However, Brock powered through, and to the shock of the capacity crowd, clinched in a superplex from the top turnbuckle, dropping a combined 750 pounds dead center in the ring.
The ring instantly imploded, driving the crowd into an all-out frenzy, with both giants laid out. With their rematch taking place at the Garden, there's no reason to believe chaotic history like this won't repeat itself this October. With all due respect to the WWE's Night of Champions (2015) pay-per-view on September 20, this Brock Lesnar vs. Big Show bout might just be the must-see match of this fourth quarter.
That ring-imploding, superplex ending will be hard-pressed to top, but it's a safe bet to say Lesnar and Show will try to do just that.
