Reserved A Tesla Modle X SUV For $132,000? Of Course, You Can Customize It

Tesla Motors customers that reserved a Signature Series Model X SUV, the $132,000 version of the company's upcoming crossover SUV, can now begin to make customizations on their pre-ordered vehicles.

Tesla Motors has started to open up the ordering process for the Tesla Model X, allowing customers that made early reservations to choose the colors for the vehicle's interiors and exteriors. Customers were also allowed to purchase add-ons for the vehicle, among which are a $1,000 subzero weather package that adds washer nozzle heaters among other things to the Tesla Model X and a $750 towing package.

All the versions of the Tesla Model X feature the falcon-style rear doors, seats for seven, and proximity sensors which would prevent the SUV from coming close to contact with vehicles and objects.

The Model X Signature Series will have a 90kWh battery pack and an estimated range by the EPA of 240 miles on a single charge. The vehicle is capable of going from 0-60 miles per hour in 3.8 seconds, with a top speed of 155 miles per hour. Customers, however, can shell out $10,000more to gain Ludicrous Mode, which drops the 0-60 miles per hour time to only 3.2 seconds.

The less expensive models of the Tesla Model X will have prices that start at $75,000, which is the same base price for the Tesla Model S. However, TechCrunch noted that customers also often purchase add-ons when buying the Tesla Model S.

The Tesla Model X was first announced over three years ago, with reservations for the vehicle immediately starting. The bulk production for the Tesla Model X was slated to being last year, but that was delayed with the deliveries of the vehicle only starting this month.

After the release of the Tesla Model X, the company said that it will focus its attention on a line of electric cars that would be more affordable, namely the Model 3 vehicles, which are expected to be unveiled in March 2016 and to begin production in 2017.

Model 3 vehicles will look to drive 200 miles on a single full charge, with the rumored price of the electric vehicle said to be around $35,000.
