Plugging in a USB cable can be difficult in the best of times, but trying to do it in the dark can be a nightmare. Thankfully, Sewell Direct has developed a charging cable that should eliminate this problem.
The cable essentially uses the same capacitive technology found in the screen of a smartphone, so it lights up only when it is touched. This makes it easier to plug the device in without having an extra, unwanted night-light.
"Apple's lightning port is tiny, which is awesome because it means thinner phones. But it can also make it hard to find the port in the dark," says Sewell Direct on its website. The Luminid Touch and Flash cable solves this problem simply and creatively.
The cable features LED lights in the end that plugs into the phone — making it easier to figure out which direction the cable needs to go in. Then, once the user plugs in the cable, they can let go of the end and the light will switch off.
The Luminid is available in two options, the first being an Apple Lightning cable option, which costs $17, and the second being a microUSB cable version, which costs $15. The cables are each 40 inches in length and should work with the majority of smartphones out there.
