There's a new Game of Thrones fan theory going around that has managed to draw fans into several debates all over the web. We fail to see the sense behind it, but it does sound interesting regardless.
According to the theory, Jon Snow has a twin sister, and her name is Meera Reed. This theory links to the theory about Jon Snow being the offspring of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark, and that Ned Stark has been keeping this a secret for years.
As it stands, Reddit user ghostchief, believes that Rhaegar and Lyanna had twins. Jon was passed on to Ned Stark, and Meera was given to Howland Reed, the Lord of the Crannogmen of the Neck.
Bear in mind that Howland was at Ned Stark's side as they entered the tower where Lyanna died. It is alleged that this is where she went into labor and gave birth to both Jon and Meera.
To make things even more interesting, Meera in the TV show has a striking resemblance to Jon. However, in the books, this is not the case, so we are unable to believe what this Reddit user has to say based on information coming directly from the books.
Ghostchief went on to claim that Game of Thrones season 6 will open with the flashback scene of Ned Stark along with Howland entering the tower. This is where we should see both twins being taken to different places.
We should point out that both Jon Snow and Meera were born in 283 AC, which is the same year. It makes them the same age, but that still doesn't prove that they are blood-related, twins.
The idea of Jon being related to Lyanna and Rhaegar makes more sense than this twisted mess of a theory, but we won't go as far as to rule it out. George R.R. Martin is known for doing strange things, so what this fan is saying here could very well happen.
We wouldn't want it to, though, because we fail to see where Meera would fit in everything that is going on.
