Huawei Pulls Huawei Watch Preorder Page On Amazon But Did It Hint iOS Compatibility?

Huawei's Android Wear smartwatch, the Huawei Watch, was posted on online retail giant Amazon for preorders, but the listing was taken down shortly afterwards.

The price posted for the Huawei Watch began at $349 for a stainless steel version with a black-colored leather strap, with the price reaching $799 for a gold-plated and stainless steel version with a gold-plated steel band. These prices are within the territory of the prices that Apple has for its Apple Watch, and it will be interesting to see how much demand an ultra-premium smartwatch based on Google's Android Wear operating system could generate.

According to the listing, the Huawei Watch will start to ship on Sept. 2.

However, more importantly, the listing for the Huawei Watch stated that the device will be compatible with iOS 8.2 along with Android 4.3 and later OS. There have been previous reports that Google is planning to support Apple's iPhone with its mobile operating system, and it looks like Huawei is supporting those rumors with the specifications of the Huawei Watch.

The other features of the Huawei Watch on the taken down Amazon preorder page include a 1.4-inch full circle AMOLED display with a scratch-resistant sapphire glass, more than 40 watch faces pre-installed and easily swapped bands, fitness trackers with sensors and a heart rate monitor, and access to more than 4,000 Android Wear apps.

After the price, iOS compatibility and features of the Huawei Watch were posted on the Amazon preorder page though, the page was taken down, with Huawei stating that the partner website provided incorrect information regarding the upcoming launch of the wearable device.

The incorrect information that Amazon posted regarding the Huawei Watch could be how it will work with iOS devices, but it could also be referring to other details such as the prices of the smartwatch or other features.

Huawei concluded their statement regarding the wrong listing of the Huawei Watch on Amazon by saying that while the company currently has nothing else to announce, it will be releasing more details about the Huawei Watch next week, confirming that the device will be featured at the IFA trade show in Berlin which will run from Sept. 4 to Sept. 9.

Until then, interested customers in what Huawei is portraying as one of the most luxury smartwatches will have to wait to see if the Huawei Watch will indeed support iOS devices.
