New details regarding the upcoming Huawei Nexus phablets have leaked. Posted images confirm that the handset will be powered by a Snapdragon 810 processor, 3 GB of RAM and will feature USB Type C.
Apple and Google are both working overtime on their next-generation smartphones and phablets, which are expected to be released in the fall, alongside iOS 9 and Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The iPhone 6s and 6s Plus will look virtually identical to the current iPhone 6 and 6 Plus — but since these are "s" moniker devices, consumers can expect Apple to add some new features that will be exclusive to these models, as it has done in the past.
The iPhone 4S, released in 2012, used the same design as the iPhone 4 but included everyone's favorite personal digital assistant, Siri, as its killer feature. The 2013 release of the iPhone 5s added Touch ID and a powerful 64-bit A7 processor housed inside the shell of the device.
Google is also expected to reprise a device from its past in the form of the LG-built Nexus 5 (2015), which just appeared on video and compares to current flagship smartphones, based off of leaked schematics. Like Apple, Google is expected to debut a second device alongside the new Nexus 5. Huawei is reportedly replacing Motorola, who built last year's Nexus 6, and we now have an idea of what to expect in Google's next-generation flagship phablet.
Images of what are reportedly the Huawei Nexus have leaked, which appear to confirm some of its key specs. A picture of the phablet's bootloader reveals that the device will include 3 GB of LPDDR4 RAM and not the 4 GB that recent reports have suggested. It will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor instead of the upcoming Snapdragon 820 chip.
The Huawei Nexus appears to carry the codename "Angler-V4" and the device in the images includes 64 GB of internal storage. Other leaked pictures show that the phablet will use a USB Type C port in place of microUSB on the bottom of the device.
The LG Nexus 5 and Huawei Nexus are expected to officially launch in October, and will be the first devices to run Android 6.0 Marshmallow. As always, we'll keep you posted on any new information as it becomes available.
