Some Apple Watch Sport Owners Complain About Disappearing Rear Logo And Scratched Off Text

Owners of the Apple Watch Sport edition have been complaining that their wearables, after only a few months of usage, have started to appear scratched out at the back. In other words, their wearables have lost the Apple logo, and the text also appears to be scratched off.

The issue with the Apple logo and the text on the Sport edition of the Watch has its discussion thread in Reddit running for quite some time now. A Reddit user known only by the name RyMiDo shared a photo of his Apple Watch where he added the caption: "The [A]pple logo fell out of my watch ... Has anyone seen this before?"

The image post now has almost 7,000 views.

The Apple Watch is one of the most anticipated Apple products this year. Design-wise, it comes in three editions: the Apple Watch, Apple Watch Sport, and Apple Watch Edition. While the Sport edition is the cheapest among the three, it is still pricier compared to the other smartwatches available on the market.

Apple has at least 10 models of the Apple Watch Sport on its website with prices that either come in $349 or $399. It uses materials such as reinforced Ion-X glass and 7000-Series aluminum. The Watch in question comes in the color of Space Gray.

The issue seems to mostly involve those wearables that are in Space Gray as most owners who complain about their wearable say that their Watch is a Space Gray variant. It also implies that the problem involves the way the text has been printed on the Space Gray models. In contrast, the stainless steel edition of the Watch showed no problem losing text since it is engraved on the wearable as opposed to being printed.

Another Watch owner known only as dougie70w brought his case to the team at Apple Support.

"I have had this unit since June 5th and the band started to peel part so bad that I replaced it with an aftermarket metal band that I purcha[s]ed on Amazon. I have an appointment at the new haven location 8/19/15 today. I hope I can be assisted with this matter and I also have Apple Care. But hope there isn't a claim today because I see a number of Apple watches with the same peeling problem," wrote dougie70w.

One user known by the name Veggiebond said that the same issue appears on his Aluminum white sport Apple Watch. Interestingly, a one-word comment summed it up: "Peelgate."
