Upcoming Platform Game 'Holobunnies' Features Holographic Bunnies Floating Around In Space

Holobunnies is a 2D platform game that puts you in the shoes of holographic bunnies floating around in space, all because of a volcano that destroyed their home planet.

"On a cold and peculiar night, the Holobunnies are celebrating their sister Avril's return to the family," reads the Holobunnies website. "After working all day to rebuild their starship, they gather around a cozy campfire to enjoy some time together. Unfortunately for them, something turns up to stop the party. Something really big and hot and filled with lava: a volcano! This is where the adventure begins..."

That's right, Holobunnies lets you play as the holograms of cute little bunnies who make their way through level after level in this new game, thanks to a partnership between game developers Nkidu Games and Q-bit.

In Holobunnies, players switch between one of five bunnies – each with different skills – as they hop around through time and space, exploring new planets and meeting other adorable creatures that exist out there in the cosmos.

But that's where Holobunnies takes a dark turn: those cute holographic bunnies must harvest the souls of all the creatures they slay. Each soul they harvest helps them develop emotions that go toward upgrading their individual skills, as well as upgrading their spaceship and equipment. The harvested souls also help unlock new areas in the game.

The game promises "challenging and rewarding platforming," along with boss battles, collectibles that change each bunny and how the game progresses, and the ability to capture monsters and make them fight for you.

Holobunnies does not yet have a release date, but those attending next week's PAX Prime in Seattle can get an early look at the game. The game will eventually release for PC, Mac and Linux systems.
