Jon Stewart To Host WWE 'SummerSlam' As First Gig After 'The Daily Show'

Politics can be like professional wrestling. There are good guys, bad guys, ongoing soap-opera storylines and plenty of thrash talk being spewed and hurled around to get the public's reaction.

That said, there's perhaps no better transition for Jon Stewart, who's going from interviewing politicians for 16 years on The Daily Show to hosting WWE's SummerSlam on Sunday, August 23, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. This marks Stewart's first official gig since hosting the longtime show on Comedy Central from 1999 to earlier this month.

The WWE built its legion of fans up to this point, engaging Stewart in a growing feud with World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins in recent months. In fact, Rollins even appeared on The Daily Show as part of the storyline.

But the feud really took off this past March, when Stewart appeared on an episode of Monday Night Raw and kicked Rollins in the groin, even commenting, "How can I make a fool out of a man dressed like a SWAT team stripper with Lady Gaga's hair?" Classic Stewart commentary, right?

As a longtime pro-wrestling fan with seemingly endless ammunition of insults to yell on the microphone, Stewart should do just fine hosting SummerSlam on Sunday night.

It will be interesting to see if Stewart gets involved in the Rollins-John Cena title-for-title Winner Takes All bout. If he can take down a pesky politician, chances are he could handle Rollins.
