If there's anyone qualified to speak about whether Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson will return to a WWE ring anytime soon, it's Roman Reigns.
Fresh off of winning the Royal Rumble in January, Reigns was joined by the box-office superstar/wrestling icon — not to mention his cousin — to celebrate the impressive victory.
With SummerSlam just around the corner, being held next Sunday (August 23) at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. for the first time, there have been plenty of Internet rumors about The Rock returning to WWE. For what it's worth, Reigns isn't exactly quelling those reports. Instead, he's only helping to fuel them.
When asked by Fox Sports on Wednesday (August 12) about The Rock possibly appearing at SummerSlam, Reigns simply offered: "I wanna tell you, but I don't want to give anything away."
In a later interview with Complex, Reigns talked about the possibility further.
"I don't want to give anything away, but if history speaks for itself — and not too long ago, and not only my history but just in general the history of the WWE — there's a reason why we say 'card is subject to change,'" Reigns said. "You never know what's going to happen with this crazy world of sports entertainment, so I would never rule out the fact that Rock wants to come home."
Reigns added: "I mean, he's in the best shape of his life, there's no question that he can go. I don't think that's ever been the question. I think it's just about moments. It's when you have any of these legends. There's a reason why you only ever see The Undertaker so often."
All being said, don't be surprised if The Rock has something to do with the outcome of the Reigns/Dean Ambrose vs. Bray Wyatt/Luke Harper tag team match.
While speaking with Complex, Reigns also discussed being attacked by a fan's fake Money in the Bank briefcase last weekend in Canada.
"For me the scariest part though, was, 'What if there was something dangerous? What if there was something sharp? What if they hit me in my eye?'" Reigns said. "The only message I want to get out about this is — I'll go out there and I'll put my body through some stuff for the entertainment and create the most infectious, creative, awesome atmosphere that I can. I think I've shown that. I danced with the big bear Brock Lesnar like no one else.
"I'll go [to] there and I'll get wild. Just please — don't put me in harm's way," he added. "Let me put myself in harm's way. But don't [mess with] the opportunity for me to provide for my family, for my seven-year-old daughter, for my wife, our livelihood."
