A couple in Canada is taking Simpsons fandom to a whole new level: Marcia Andreychuk and Josh Hamilton are renovating their entire kitchen to look exactly like Marge and Homer's kitchen as seen in the longest-running animated sitcom.
Hailing from Calgary, Alberta, Hamilton and Andreychuk decided to redo their kitchen and render it identical to the Simpsons' '50s kitsch cookery on the fictional 742 Evergreen Terrace out of a nostalgic reverence and love for the beloved cartoon classic, now set to embark on its 27th season.
Calling it a "retro-vation," Andreychuk stated that some of the prepatory work had already been handed to them: their own 1950s-esque kitchen had the "same bones" as that of the Simpsons' kitchen.
While they one day wish to buy all-new kitchen appliances in the traditional Simpsonian olive green, for now they're using contact paper to revitalize and recolor their existing hardware.
"We're taking what's already here and adding color, basically," said Andreychuk in an interview with CBC News.
And as for the naysayers? Andreychuk has the right attitude: "Who wouldn't want corncob curtains? Come on!"
