HBO's Hard Knocks reality series has given fans a close-up, behind-the-scenes look at NFL teams such as the Dallas Cowboys, New York Jets, Miami Dolphins and Atlanta Falcons through the years, with the series set to follow the Houston Texans for the 2015 season.
Now, a college football team could be the subject of a similar Hard Knocks-styled sports reality series, but on HBO's rival, Showtime. According to FootballScoop, Notre Dame and Showtime are in the process of finalizing an agreement within the next 48 hours for the network to deliver 12 episodes about the Fighting Irish's 2015 season for a sports reality series.
If the agreement is reached, Showtime will reportedly begin filming the celebrated college football program's training camp experience with the aim of airing the proposed series' first episode on September 8, three days after Notre Dame opens its season against Texas.
Although it's not finalized, sources tell FootballScoop that the sports reality series on the Fighting Irish would follow Showtime's Inside The NFL on Tuesday nights.
The news comes after Notre Dame is playing host to ESPN's SportsCenter on Tuesday (August 11). If access is granted for the Notre Dame-Showtime series, it will only bring more fanfare to one of America's most-beloved and watched college football teams. In addition, it will give fans an inside look at the inner workings of Fighting Irish coach Brian Kelly's system and the team's overall culture as a whole.
