LG teases G3 in new videos: Here's what we expect at the May 27 launch

The media barrage from LG continues as it released a new teaser video for its upcoming May 27 launch of the G3 smartphone, which will be a litmus test for the company as it attempts to break into the top three of smartphone devices globally. While initial reviews are positive, dethroning the big three: Samsung, Apple and HTC - could prove difficult, but not for trying.

The company is showing off the device as much as possible days ahead of the launch and the momentum appears to be paying off as more and more coverage is being given to the phone and its potential success or failure.

The one-page website created by LG's Korean division is the latest teaser for potential customers to get a glimpse of the new phone. The video showcases the smartphone's camera, display and design as LG continues to up the ante in the smartphone marketing world.

It is the first official look at the phone published by LG.

In the series of videos on the website [Korean], LG attempts to whet the appetite by delivering a few tidbits of information about the phone, which reports suggest could run at an over 600 euro price tag in Europe, making it one of the most expensive phones available.

According to LG's final video in the series, "the display resolution is 2560 x 1440" giving it an edge in terms of the latest display capacity and should be a huge selling point for users who take images with their phone and do a lot of online video watching.

The company has been largely hush-hush on the happenings of the G3 smartphone and while the videos give some inkling to what the phone has to offer, most observers are being forced to wait until the launch to get an inside perspective on the new phone and how it stacks up against the competition.

It is however, fixed with the QuickCircle case, which allows users to charge their phone wirelessly, a new feature that is likely to pick up among other manufacturers.

"The smartphone ecosystem is constantly evolving - no longer are cases just for protection from the elements and bumps and drops," said Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. "They're the perfect accessory to build in extra features that add more value to a mobile device. With QuickCircle Case, we've exceeded the baseline by making it customizable to better fit users' needs."
