Samsung Wants You To 'Note The Date' Of Galaxy Unpacked 2015: How To Watch It Online

Samsung has rolled out invitations for a new Galaxy Unpacked event that is scheduled in less than two weeks in New York City.

The Korean smartphone maker's Unpacked event is slated for Aug. 13 in the Big Apple, according to its official invite, which tellingly says "Note the Date."

The event will be held at the Alice Tully Hall at the Lincoln Center in New York City at 11:00 a.m. Eastern Daylight, although doors open for early attendees at 10:00 a.m. Those who cannot travel to New York City for the big reveal can still watch the event online via Samsung's channel on YouTube or through Samsung Tomorrow, which will stream the event online through its home page.

Although Samsung made no mention of what the next Unpacked is going to be for, it is obvious that the event will center on the unveiling of its highly anticipated Galaxy Note 5, the latest addition to its lineup of big-screen smartphones that gave Samsung an edge over Apple until Cupertino finally decided to make a phablet of its own. The Galaxy S6 Edge Plus is also believed to make its first public appearance at the event.

Additionally, Samsung's Unpacked events have historically been known to be dedicated for its Note lineup. The Galaxy Note 4, for instance, was unveiled at Samsung's Unpacked event at the IFA conference in Berlin in September 2014.

This year, however, Samsung has decided to launch its latest phablet a month early, with reports pointing out that Samsung does not want its new device falling under the shadow of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus when both phones launch in September.

Various leaks and reports have all but exposed what the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus will offer. As a refresher, both smartphones are reported to have 5.7-inch Quad HD displays with a resolution of 1,440 x 2,560 pixels. Both will run on Samsung's homegrown Exynos 7420 mobile chip, the same found under the hood of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, and will have 4 GB of RAM for powerful performance.

Built-in storage will start at 32 GB, and no microSD slot for expansion is expected. At the back of both phones will be a 16 MP camera paired with a 5 MP shooter in front. The Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus are expected to run Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box.
