How One Football Recruit Used A Monopoly Board And Social Media To Make College Announcement

A.J. Taylor might have delivered the most creative college announcement of all time.

Taylor, a four-star cornerback recruit from Rockhurst High School in Kansas City, MO., made his highly-anticipated college announcement by using a customized Monopoly board, something that spread like wildfire on social media.

In making his college announcement just before this past weekend, Taylor had a special "Collegeopoly: A.J. Taylor Edition" board set up with 15 college football programs placed throughout the square. He had the board game's trademark house and hotel pieces nearby and ready to go as well.

From there, as per Randy Withers', the publisher of KansasGridiron.com, Twitter account, Taylor opened up the press conference asking members of the media what they think about specific schools. Kansas University and the University of Missouri got houses on the board, but Iowa did not.

Taylor got a solid response regarding Wisconsin, so the prized cornerback recruit gave the Badgers' football program a house and skipped Northwestern. He also bypassed Kansas State. Taylor then drew a planted chance card, which revealed, "advance to the college of your choosing."

Taylor then placed a hotel on Wisconsin and plopped a visor onto his head, completing arguably the most original—and fun—college announcement in recent memory.

Withers added that Taylor's dad told him that "Monopoly is a big thing in their family." That was definitely made clear via the announcement.
