The new Spider-Man has a part in the upcoming Captain America: Civil War film, in what Marvel describes as a cameo role.
Marvel recently announced that Tom Holland, the actor cast as America's favorite web-slinger otherwise known as Peter Parker, has already filmed his scenes for the third Captain America movie.
In an interview with Vulture about their latest film, Vacation, writers John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein confirmed Spider-Man's appearance in Captain America: Civil War. The two plan on visiting Marvel headquarters soon to get a look at the footage that's already shot.
"We hear good things," says Goldstein. "We might even get to look at the Spidey suit, which is exciting."
It comes as no surprise that Spider-Man will appear in the film, as Marvel announced earlier this year that it plans on rebooting the character, bringing Spidey into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as well as making him an Avenger. Holland even auditioned with Avengers stars Chris Evans (Captain America) and Robert Downey, Jr. (Iron Man) before Marvel awarded him the role.
As to other characters appearing in the Spider-Man reboot, we only have one other name: Aunt May. Marvel confirmed that Marisa Tomei would take the role earlier in July.
So what's Spider-Man's role in Captain America 3? Marvel says it's a "cameo," so it's only a small part in a film that already has a massive superhero cast, featuring Iron Man, Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Falcon (Anthony Mackie), The Vision (Paul Bettany), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner, War Machine (Don Cheadle) and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen).
Even the Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) returns for Civil War, as well as Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), Agent 13 (Emily VanCamp), Baron Helmut Zemo (Daniel Brühl) and Crossbones (Frank Grillo). As if that weren't enough, there's also William Hurt's Genera Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man and Martin Freeman in an as-of-yet unknown role.
The Spider-Man reboot won't appear in theaters until 2017, so the world's first look at the new Spider-Man will occur when Captain America: Civil War makes its debut on May 6, 2016.
