Oscar award-winning actress Marisa Tomei will likely be featured in Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios' latest Spider-Man film.
Tomei is set to play Aunt May, joining the cast that includes recently announced Peter Parker actor Tom Holland in the film to be directed by Jon Watts (Cop Car).
Though neither Sony nor Marvel has made an official announcement, insiders say Tomei is the lead choice for the role.
The superhero flick will be a change of pace for Tomei, who is known for her performances in dramas like The Wrestler and romantic comedies like My Cousin Vinny (which won her the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress).
The 50-year-old actress will be the youngest to play Aunt May, which only makes sense, as Holland will be the youngest Spider-Man to date.
While fans will get to see the new and younger Spider-Man in a cameo in Captain American: Civl War, hitting theaters May 6, 2016, we will have to continue to wait to hear more details about the latest Spider-Man film in the works.
While we already know that Holland landed the lead role with Tomei probably playing his aunt, there is still no word on the writer to join Watts on the film. We do however know that Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal will serve as producers, with shooting scheduled for next year.
Tomei can be seen in Judd Apatow's Train Wreck starring Amy Schumer on July 17.
Sony and Marvel's Spider-Man is set to be released July 28, 2017.
