Fans of The Walking Dead will want to pick up a copy of this week's Entertainment Weekly. The issue is wrapped in a cover dedicated to the series, featuring Carol (Melissa McBride) holding out a cookie, flanked by Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Daryl (Norman Reedus).
The cover is a throwback to an episode last season when Carol promises a young boy all the cookies he can eat if he doesn't tell his mom about what he saw when he caught her stealing a bag of handguns (after threatening to tie him to a tree and leave him for zombie food, of course).
The magazine also features an interview with the cast, writers and producers of the series, teasing things to come in the upcoming Season 6.
So what can we expect? Well, for starters, you can look forward to a battle for control of Alexandria. Many characters are losing their trust in each other and there's conflict to come. Suddenly, it will become a case of "us vs. them."
The new season will also have its share of flashbacks, framing the story by skipping backward and forward in time.
"We do play with time a little bit," said The Walking Dead executive producer Greg Nicotero. "And not in a traditional sense. We open right in the middle of this heightened action sequence, and we then jump around in that time frame to allow the audience to put together in their own minds what it is that we actually just saw."
For those curious about Morgan's history, Season 6 also promises some more background information, including how the character went from crazy to the person viewers met outside Alexandria. Actor Lennie James, who portrays Morgan, confirms that "he has gone through a transformation that viewers will find out about."
The article also notes that we'll see the early years of Alexandria, in addition to offering some prequel-like insight into the comic books that serves as the show's basis — which was previously teased by the series.
The Walking Dead Season 6 premiere airs on AMC October 11.
