QuakeCon 2015: Bethesda Announces Massive 'Fallout' Anthology For PC

Following the game's big E3 2015 reveal, anticipation for the upcoming Fallout 4 is at a fever pitch. It's easy to see why: not only is this the next game from the team behind Fallout 3 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, but Bethesda detailed an absolutely insane list of new features and additions. Plus, the fact that gamers only have to wait a few months before it hits store shelves is the cherry on top.

That said, Fallout wasn't all that popular for some time. Following the second game in the series, the franchise went into hibernation for a long while. As a result, many players' first Fallout game was actually Fallout 3 — not realizing that the series used to be something completely different.

It only makes sense that Bethesda would want to introduce people to Fallout's long lineage: after all, the franchise is built on a lot more than Fallout 3 and New Vegas. That's where the new Fallout Anthology comes in: not only is it a compilation of the "modern" games, but a collection of everything Fallout: even classic titles like the original game and the sadly underrated Fallout: Tactics are set to be included.

Just about every Fallout game ever made will be included in the anthology: the original Fallout, its sequel Fallout: Tactics and the "modern" trilogy: Fallout 3, New Vegas and Fallout 4. The only Fallout title not included in the anthology will be Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel... though it's highly unlikely that anyone was really hoping for its inclusion.

Considering that the classic Fallout games were built around a full keyboard and mouse setup, the Fallout Anthology will only be making its way to PC. There's no word on whether or not the games will include Steam codes for use with Valve's service, though considering how popular the digital distribution platform is, it's safe to assume that users will be able to integrate the Fallout Anthology into their Steam Libraries.

The best part? That stylish Mini-Nuke case actually works! Well... in the sense that it can produce an explosion sound effect, not level an entire neighborhood in the blink of an eye.

As an added bonus, you won't have to wait all that much longer to get your hands on the Fallout Anthology: the collection will hit store shelves on September 29. Sadly, that doesn't mean you'll be getting Fallout 4 ahead of schedule, but the case does include an empty slot for when the game launches this November.

There's no word on pricing or where you can pre-order the anthology just yet, but we'll update you as soon as that information becomes available.
