'Halo 5: Guardians' for the Xbox One and an all new 'Halo' television series will be launched in the fall of 2015, according to a recent blog post of 343 industries general manager Bonnie Ross. Regardless of the delays, Microsoft says the Halo journey will continue this year.
'Halo 5: Guardians' is a sequel to the Halo video game series, which is considered to be one of the best-selling vidego game franchises for Microsoft Xbox One. The game follows the exploits of super-soldier Master Chief in this sci-fi shooting game series. The next entry to the series is said to run at 60 frames per second, and together with a new scale, scope and features, the game will soon be ready for action. The latest Halo will also run using a new engine built by the developer 343 Industries.
Steven Spielberg, meanwhile, will produce a Halo TV series. The veteran producer teamed up with some of the finest creative brains in the industry. The said TV series will feature a stand alone story. However, it can also supplement and deepen the Halo experience for gamers.
"Halo" isn't simply a perennial game franchise, it's a part of the Xbox platform itself," Ross posts on the company's official blog, Xbox Wire.
"It's the next chapter in the Master Chief saga. It's also a big deal for us because of the transition to the Xbox One platform. All of the 'Halo' games - more or less - have added something to the Xbox ecosystem," also says Frank O'Connor, 343 Industries' franchise development director.
Ross also says 'Halo 5: Guardians' is a much bigger effort as compared to the earlier sequel Halo 4, whether in terms of scope and content of the game or its technology.
"Certainly there are some core elements carried over from prior games, but we've invested a huge effort in retooling our tech to take full advantage of the Xbox One's hardware and ecosystem to create worlds and experiences worthy of next-gen," he says.
Halo 4 was the first new Halo title under the Microsoft-founded 343 Industries. 343 took over after the original game developer Bungie left and went ahead to create Destiny.
Xbox One of Microsoft is also in a tight competition with the Sony's PlayStation 4. However, current market data suggests that the latter is leading the race for consoles.
Ross also expresses hope in the blog post that the new game sequel will showcase the talents of the team at 343 Industries. More details will be disclosed about Halo 5: Guardians and Halo Tv series on June 9 during the Xbox E3 2014 Media Briefing.
