World's fastest texter Marcel Fernandes can type faster than you can read

Marcel Fernandes Filho, a 17-year-old Brazilian, had just broke records that earned him the top spot on the Guinness World Records. He is the number one texter in the world in terms of typing speed.

In 2009, Filho's hammered his Dell desktop computer in a fit of rage that resulted in him losing his only computer, which he couldn't afford to replace at the time. So what did he do you ask? He started to use his iPhone 3GS for all his computing needs, including typing.

This is what prompted him on his journey where he became the world's fastest texter. His texting is said to be so good that not only can he text quickly, but also efficiently with good punctuation.

He beat the previous record of another teen, which was set at 18.44 seconds, last month in New York where he managed to score 18.19 seconds. He used a keyboard app called Fleksy to achieve his world breaking records. The virtual keyboard app is available on both Apple's App Store and Google Play.

It shouldn't surprise too many people that a teenager broke such records because after all, teens of all people are the world's biggest texter. They are constantly texting in-between classes, after school, at home and everywhere in-between. You may recall during the London Olympics presentation from 2012 (initial ceremony), where teenagers were shown texting and using their smartphones for everything as a way to present the culture of today.

What is interesting about this young man is that despite probably having many opportunities presented right now due to breaking these records -- think smartphone marketing gimmicks or campaigns related to keyboard attachments or apps - he is actually majoring in physics as his career choice. He already seems to be linked with Fleksy somehow as he is wearing the company's logo on his shirt during a presentation. But physics seems to be something he at least wants to delve into.

"I don't know if you guys would be interested in knowing this, but I'm currently studying physics in UFSC (a college south of Brazil)," he said in a statement.
