When The Flash runs back onto The CW on Oct. 6, the titular superhero will have a new look.
The CW revealed the first official photo for The Flash's costume for Season 2 Monday. The photo has been made to look a little shadowy, so it's difficult to see the superhero's new get-up in full, but overall, it doesn't look drastically different from his costume from the first season. However, there is one major difference with this new costume that is pretty easy to spot: the background of the iconic Flash lightning bolt symbol is now white.
As you may remember, The Flash logo had a red background in Season 1. With this change, the costume now more closely resembles what The Flash wears in DC's comic book series, which should please fans of the show's source material. As IGN points out, viewers actually caught a glimpse of the new costume as a sort of Easter egg during Barry Allen's time-traveling fight with Reverse-Flash in Season 1.
The Flash's new Season 2 costume was also on display at Comic-Con International in San Diego a couple of weeks ago at the DC Comics booth on the showroom floor. The display also included the winged silver-and-gold helmet famously worn by Jay Garrick, the first to go by the name of The Flash in DC's comics. Actor Teddy Sears will be portraying Jay, a mysterious man who arrives in Central City to warn Barry and his S.T.A.R. Labs team about danger that lies ahead, in Season 2.
This new costume was designed by Maya Mani, who also designed the updated costume Oliver Queen's Arrow will be wearing on the upcoming fourth season of The CW series of the same name.
