Silicon Valley's Kumail Nanjiani Fanboys Over 'X-Files' Guest Role

Over the weekend, noted comedian/Twitter champ/actor Kumail Nanjiani gushed his little fanboy heart out on the set of the latest iteration of The X-Files. If you don't think it was pretty adorable, you may or may not have a soul.

Nanjiani is best known for his role on HBO comedy Silicon Valley as Dinesh Chugtai, a sardonic Pakistani-born programmer with a venomous (and often hilarious) immoral streak. Notable side-gigs include memorable appearances on Inside Amy Schumer and Portlandia.

Nanjiani is also an outspoken, badge-wearing nerd, a fan of everything from the Lord of the Rings trilogy (he regularly pontificates plot loopholes) to — you guessed it — The X-Files (he can recite the name of every episode by heart. Fittingly, he hosts an X-Files fan podcast, aptly named The X-Files Files, wherein he discusses his favorite episodes with fellow fans, bloggers, comedians and even actors who appeared in the sole-same episodes.

Little is known about Nanjiani's guest role on the series, other than what can be pieced together from the pics he posted on Twitter. As of now, it looks like his X-Files stint casts him as an animal control officer — or at least, that's what his costume suggests.

Below are some of Nanjiani's select tweets. Go on, I dare you not to get overwhelmingly giddy and excited.

And lest we forget this crowning jewel:

All hail Duchovny, Anderson — and now Nanjiani.

New episodes of The X-Files are scheduled to air January 24, 2016.
