We all saw it coming on Arrow, especially after events of the series' third season (we even predicted it then), but this weekend at San Diego Comic-Con, the people behind The CW series confirmed what we knew all along: Oliver Queen will finally become Green Arrow in season four of Arrow.
Of course, the first hint that the season would take Oliver in a new direction occurred in the season three finale when Oliver hung up his Arrow costume and said he was done with it for good. Then he and Felicity drove off into the sunset. Of course, those who watch the series know that Oliver can't sit by idly while his city suffers, so we knew he'd do something to help out when he and Felicity return to Starling City (an inevitability).
This weekend, at Comic-Con, the first big reveal about the Green Arrow was by actor Stephen Amell, who portrays Oliver Queen, aka Arrow, on the TV series. He took to the stage in Oliver's new costume, a green costume, that clued everyone in about the big change his character sees in the new season.
As you can see in the following video clip of that appearance, the crowd went wild:
We knew Oliver wouldn't forsake Starling City.
If you need more confirmation of the Green Arrow, though, Arrow showrunner Marc Guggenheim took to Twitter this morning and posted the first page of the script for the first episode of season four. Be sure to check out the title: "Green Arrow."
So it looks like we'll see Oliver's transition from the Arrow take place in the very first episode, which lays the groundwork for the entire season.
Variety also reported that the Arrow Comic-Con panel named off a few new cast members making their way to Starling City in season four, including Mister Terrific and Anarky, the series' first gay character.
Arrow returns to The CW on October 7.
