A new concept design for a futuristic iPhone envisions an exciting smartphone with two screens, just one high-end camera and more intriguing elements.
Apple's iPhones have always drawn plenty of attention and their popularity has grown with each new iteration. The latest iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus – packing advanced specifications and notable upgrades over their predecessors –launched in the fall of 2014 to a great response.
With the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, Apple finally moved to larger displays, which was something users have long been requesting. The company could still implement far greater upgrades with future products — and a new concept design provides a glimpse into what could be possible with an even more advanced iPhone.
Dubbed the iPhone 8, the concept sees a top-notch smartphone with 2K resolution, which would put it in line with the latest flagships from rival handset makers. The resolution, however, is not the most interesting aspect of this concept.
The designer behind the iPhone 8 conceptual project, Jermaine Smit, has imagined an Apple smartphone with two displays, offering similar functionality to the YotaPhone. The main display would have the 2K resolution, while another screen on the back of the smartphone would serve as a low-power, low-resolution (480p) alternative.
This way, users would be able to rely on the low-power panel on the back of the handset to check notifications, see what time it is, or perform other such less-intensive tasks, conserving battery life.
Because of the second screen on its back, the iPhone 8 would only need one high-end camera. Users could see themselves on the secondary screen while taking selfies or video chatting, which would eliminate the need for a front shooter.
The futuristic iPhone 8 would also boast wireless charging capabilities for extra convenience, and ditch its home button for a sleeker look.
Keep in mind, however, that this is just a concept design that shows what could be possible. It neither depicts an actual product, nor does it reveal actual Apple plans for future products. That said, check out the video below to see the intriguing iPhone 8 concept by Jermaine Smit.
