The Apple Watch is finally set to hit the shelves as eager consumers hanker to get the wearable. Now with the wearable set to be available, one wonders what if the next-gen iPhone married some of the Apple Watch's features?
Keeping this factor in mind, designer Antonio De Rosa had come up with a concept design of the iPhone 7, which carries some features of the Apple Watch.
Design-wise, De Rosa's envisioned iPhone 7 looks similar to the iPhone 6 as shown in the new design concept video on YouTube. However, the iPhone 7 concept is slimmer - only 6.9mm - and sports a Digital Crown on the top right side of the smartphone. Moreover, the Digital Crown also integrates the Touch ID and gesture support.
The crown mechanism is quite common for traditional watches and is perfect for a smartwatch too. However, the presence of a digital crown or dial on a smartphone seems a little odd.
"The challenge to improve something that is already perfect. This is the approach used to design the new Apple Phone. We have enhanced every component of the device, adding a new level of control thanks to Digital Crown with integrated Touch ID and Sense Button," notes De Rosa.
The concept also relocates the Home button to the front of the Digital Crown. The regular spot where the Home button is found is substituted by tinier bezels. Additionally, the designer also imagines a new Sense Button which will decipher movements and gestures of an individual to aid personalized control of the iPhone 7.
Apart from the three sensors on the bottom of the iPhone 7, the concept has a 5.5-inch Retina HD+ screen with a 2560 x 1440 pixel display. The designer also envisions the iPhone 7 in three hues and imagines it using aluminum, ceramic, and glass components. The smartphone is imagined to pack in a powerful A9 chip and 64-bit architecture.
