Whenever a new Marvel movie comes out, you know there's going to be some fan-pleasing cameos by characters from throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It looks like Marvel's upcoming release Ant-Man, which hits theaters July 17, will be no different.
It appears that Sam Wilson, a.k.a. The Falcon, will be making a cameo in the latest Marvel movie. The new Avenger, played by Anthony Mackie on screen, briefly appears in a new Spanish-language TV spot for the movie. It's a blink-and-you'll-miss-him-type situation, so watch that ad like a hawk(eye).
The Falcon previously appeared in Captain America: The Winter Soldier to help Steve Rogers take down the titular assassin. He also became one of the new recruits to the Avengers in Avengers: Age of Ultron and will appear in next May's Captain America: Civil War.
This isn't the first time an Avengers cameo in Ant-Man has been hinted at. Some promotional posters for the movie have emphasized Ant-Man's connection to the Avengers. Paul Rudd's Scott Lang, a.k.a. Ant-Man, joked in a previous teaser for the movie that they should call in the Avengers instead of him to save the day once again. As Polygon points out, Rudd also alluded to an Avengers cameo in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
"Essentially, this is a heist film, and if you look at the structure of heist films, there is always a test run and the test run fails," Rudd told The Hollywood Reporter in June. "In talking about what could be a good test run, we were just playing around with conversations and thought, 'Oh my God, what if he actually fought an Avenger?' We started getting really giddy about this idea. It seemed like that would be a fun way to incorporate the universe into this film."
Here's a still of The Falcon from the TV spot.
