For three months now, gamers have been thrilling to the bloody deathmatches in Mortal Kombat X. NetherRealm Studios' gory fighting game has a plethora of playable characters, but the latest may just change the entire dynamic.
The Predator, the eponymous villain of the 1987 film, is ready to enter the battle. Players who bought the "Kombat Pack" will be able to play as Predator starting tomorrow, July 7. Gamers who don't own a season pass will be able to buy Predator separately one week later, on July 14.
Purchasing Predator will also give gamers access to three new character skins, all themed around the classic movie. Johnny Cage becomes "Commando Johnny," Scorpion gets to be "Infrared Scorpion" in honor of an important plot point from the movie, and Jax gains the voice and likeness of Carl Weathers, who played a soldier named George Dillon in the film.
Predator joins an extensive roster of playable characters that includes Mortal Kombat favorites from games both recent and past. The popular character makes his first appearance in a video game outside of the Predator franchise, following Friday the 13th's Jason Voorhees.
This trailer shows Predator's many available attacks, most of which utilize his arsenal of scifi weaponry. (Like all things Mortal Kombat, this video is not recommended for younger viewers — or the squeamish.)
