Sony Xperia Z5 With Snapdragon 820 Chip And Fingerprint Recognition Might Roll Out In September

The Internet is abuzz with rumors of Sony working on a new flagship smartphone dubbed the Xperia Z5, which will bring some exciting features in tow.

Rumors are rife that Sony has three smartphones in the pipeline - the Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Ultra and Xperia Z5 Compact. Now according to publication Technodify, the Japanese company will likely unveil the Xperia Z5 in September in Japan and possibly make it official at the upcoming IFA 2015.

The Xperia Z5 will supposedly hit the shelves soon, before year-end, in time for the holiday season per the report.

This is not the first time the Xperia Z has been in the news. Earlier in April this year, a picture of the alleged Xperia Z smartphone was posted on Weibo, which gave a peek into the metallic casing of the rumored device. The image also confirmed that the rear-facing camera on the Xperia Z5 would not change position and remain on the top left.

Moreover, the posting also mentioned "Type-C" - a possible hint at the USB-C port, as well as the numeric 9 which hinted at a September announcement for the Xperia Z5.

Now more information on the Xperia Z5 has been revealed and hint at new features for the Sony flagship. The Xperia Z5 will reportedly pack-in a fingerprint scanner, putting it in the same league as the iPhone 6 and the Samsung Galaxy S5. Whether Sony will embed this feature in the home button is not known.

The Xperia Z5's screen size is also not known but considering the Xperia Z4v/Xperia Z3+ (the U.S. and European variants of the Xperia Z4) sports a 5.2-inch screen, the former would have a similar if not slightly enhanced display size. The smartphone is also speculated to house the Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 chipset, which is yet to release and is being tested out on the much-awaited Xiaomi Mi5.

Camera-wise, the Sony smartphone will tout a powerful 21MP primary camera with LED flash, autofocus, Exmor RS IMX230 CMOS sensor and $K video recording capabilities.

The smartphone will also pack in 4GB of RAM and a microSD card to enable memory expansion. The Xperia Z5 will reportedly house a powerful 4,500 mAh battery and run on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box and not Android M.

Hopefully, the Xperia Z5 will fare better than the Xperia Z4v once it hits the shelves.
