Vainglory's seven-month term of iOS exclusivity is coming to a close, as developer Super Evil Megacorp prepares to launch the mobile MOBA on Android next month.
Super Evil Megacorp has opened up the free-to-play MOBA, or Multiplayer Online Battle Arena, to pre-registration on Android. The game will be live on July 2.
"With the 1.6 update we are finally launching Vainglory commercially, including support for more than 150 Android devices. The update will contain the long awaited ranked queue, new hero Rona the Berserker, a ton of fixes and—finally—Android support!" the company announced in a blog post.
Along with widening the game's reach, Super Evil Megagcorp's latest updates to Vainglory will also improve the mobile title's experience. Update 1.6 will introduce casual and ranked queues, so that gamers will have a better chance of joining the right group of players anytime of the day.
Players looking to improve themselves shouldn't have to end their play sessions early because they're afraid of losing skill tier.
"If you want to try new things, you need a place to experiment without regretting the consequences," said Super Evil Megacorp. "And if you want to coordinate, grind and compete, you need a home for that without running into a first-time instalock Celeste building Weapon."
While Super Evil Megacorp says that the game has basically been in beta testing up until this point, despite releasing months ago on iOS, Vainglory has been warmly received. The game, which was announced during Apple's unveiling of the iPhone 6 series, was awarded an Apple Design Award during Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference earlier this month.
"Vainglory is selected as an Apple Design Award winner because it delivers beautiful, high-fidelity graphics and animations, offers an incredibly polished and immersive experience, and enables a fast-paced, endless multiplayer experience on iOS that's all about the highs, lows, excitement, anticipation, friendships, and competition," said Apple.
Vainglory brings the full-fat MOBA experience to mobile devices. The game features all of the MOBA hallmarks such as heroes, minions, lanes and a top-down view.
"There's so much more touch games can be," the company stated. "Super Evil Megacorp wants to help build a future where every tablet is perceived by players as a portable next-gen console—a fully fledged primary gaming device."
Those interested may now pre-register for Vainglory for Android.
