Spin-offs are usually something that people scoff at — attempts from a network to keep a series relevant after the original goes off the air. Fear the Walking Dead, however, feels like more than just a cash-grab. There's a lot that will hopefully separate the show from its inspiration — and, honestly, is anyone going to complain about more Walking Dead?
With the series premiere fast approaching, AMC is finally pulling back the curtain on Fear the Walking Dead. Over the past few weeks, fans have gotten their first look at what to expect from the spin-off, and it doesn't look like AMC will be slowing down just yet. The second trailer for Fear the Walking Dead just came online, and it tells a very different story from anything you've seen from the franchise thus far.
After all, The Walking Dead takes place almost entirely after the outbreak hits... so what were things like before humanity fell apart?
Right from the start, it's clear that Fear the Walking Dead is trying something different. Origin stories can be tough – especially when they're being added to an already-existing franchise – but it looks like Fear the Walking Dead is doing it well. Granted, we've only seen a minute's worth of footage so far, but all things considered, Fear the Walking Dead could have looked a lot worse.
With any luck, Fear the Walking Dead will do the franchise justice. It's the first big-budget spin-off of its kind, and it could set the precedent for future series — whether or not that'll be a good thing is still up in the air.
Either way, it won't be long before fans find out if Fear the Walking Dead is up to snuff — the series premiere airs this August.
